Russia celebrates the day of the national flag. The tricolor flag was hoisted on the White House in Moscow for the first time in modern history, the August 22, 1991.
This date was chosen as the national day of one of the symbols of Russia in August 1994 under a law signed by the first President Boris Yeltsin.
The Russian flag is a rectangle composed of three horizontal lines of different colors, but of equal size: a white top, a blue in the middle and red at the bottom. The unofficial version of the symbolism of the colors of the flag indicates that the white means peace, faith blue and red force and shed blood for their country.
The image of the current flag, a symbol of their country, was founded by Tsar Peter I the Great, in 1705. One of the successors of Peter the Great, Alexander II, changed the colors of the flag in 1858. The new image of the national flag was black, yellow and white. Nevertheless, and in 1883 Tsar Alexander III ordered to return to use the flag created by Peter the Great.
After the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, the national symbol was replaced by a red flag (1918), which was the national flag (with some modifications) until 1991.
The festivities will be held Monday in different parts of Russia.
